Harnessing the Power of the Rebel to Heal Emotional Eating

"I want chocolate and I want it now!"

"Who cares if I'm hungry, I'm going to eat it anyway!"

"I'm going to eat whatever I want and you can't stop me, so there! "

Does this sound familiar to you?

Have you noticed those days when you struggle really hard to stay on your food plan, to really be good? You hold on for a day, even several months. Then all of a sudden, you are hit by an intense, uncontrollable craving and you find yourself heading towards the nearest store for your favorite brand of chocolate. It's as if something, or someone, takes over.

Enter the Rebel. The Rebel is the one that keeps insisting that you have more, urging you to eat beyond the level of comfort in your body. She is the one behind the scenes, who dishes out that third bowl of ice cream. Often the Rebel appears as a defiant child, her compulsive behavior triggers anger, frustration and disappointment in the adult part of you. And you vow next time, to employ more willpower to manage, control and destroy this enemy within. So you heap on more judgment, and push her even deeper underground. But has this approach ever worked? It only fuels the war within.

In the Aware Eating process, we turn our attention towards this Rebel, this "shadow" that has been lurking in the darkness. We approach her with curiosity, observe her patterns and allow her to express. We engage in a gentle process of reuniting fragmented parts, and free the energy that has been stuck in resistance. As we explore her underlying energy, she gives us the message that we need to hear in order to be whole.

Imagine what it would be like to learn how to channel The Rebel's wild energy to fuel your creative, vibrant life!

We can do this work with The Rebel in our personal coaching sessions either in person or over the phone. To sign up for your free consultation click here. From time to time, I offer a one day workshop in Seattle. Click here for more classes
